Head Gardener
Andrew Leighton
Andrew Leighton has been working at Middethorpe Hall for over 14 years, and has been in charge as Head Gardener since February 2017. He works alongside a team of dedicated volunteers from various backgrounds all with a passion to look after the 20 acres of formal garden and parkland surround the National Trust's Middlethorpe Hall.
Andrew was born and has always lived in North Yorkshire. He studied horticulture at Askham Bryan College near York where he qualified. After a period running his own business as a Landscape Gardener, Andrew joined the team at Middelthorpe Hall in 2003 to fulfil his passion attending and developing a working historic garden. He is very keen to share his knowledge and skills with colleagues, volunteers and guests alike.
Andrew's other passions are Landscape Photography, for which he travels around the country, walking the National Parks, Astronomy and Ice Hockey.
